Rabindra Jayanti celebration at ACT Kolkata showed great energy and enthusiasm

On the auspicious occasion of Rabindra Jayanti, Asian College of Teachers remembers one of India's greatest poets and thinkers, Kobiguru Rabindranath Tagore, on his 158th birth anniversary. ACT students paid homage to Kobiguru Tagore on his birth anniversary with songs, dance and drama. He has impacted lives and shaped ideas of innumerable people in India & abroad. He was the visionary and arguably the world's greatest lyricist and musician. One of the best poets and authors, and above all, humanity's greatest treasure.

Rabindra Jayanti is a seen as a cultural festival celebrated annually, commemorating the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore. While his date of birth is marked on 7 May, the bard’s birthday is celebrated on ‘Pochishe Boishakh’, 25th day of the first Bengali month of Boishakh, the day he was born according to the Bengali calendar.

The audience witnessed some mesmerizing performances by the students from ongoing ITD batch at ACT Kolkata. The celebration held the audience attention throughout as the students matched their notes to Rabindra Sangeet, reciting Tagore’s noteworthy creations, role playing to popular drama such as Kabuliwalah and Monihara and performing Rabindra Nritya. There was a whole-hearted participation by some of the ACT members as well who paid tribute to the bard through recitation, dance and singing. The performances were immensely enjoyed by all.
