ACT celebrates Bijoya Sammilani 2019 at ACT Kolkata Office
14th October 2019
With the immersion of Goddess Durga along with her children on Bijoya Dashami, all over the world Bengalis come together with people from other communities to celebrate the victory of Devi Durga over buffalo demon, Mahishasura signifying the victory of good over evil. Also known as Bijoya Sammilani, this celebration often takes place after Bijoya Dashami and involves eating sumptuous food and Bijoya sweets, with the spirit of festivity still lingering in the air. The day brings the official ending of the pujo celebration for the year.
Like the past years, this year too, ACT celebrated Bijoya Sammilani at its Kolkata office on 11th October with a delicious lunch, accompanied by ‘Bijoya Misti’ and some great shows put up by its members that included beautiful chorus songs, a comic play and a wonderful medley of songs and poems. Everyone looked beautiful as they decked up in their traditional attire with women wearing sarees and men in kurta - pyjamas. We at ACT, look forward to such celebrations each year so that we have the opportunity to celebrate our culture and tradition with pride as the atmosphere once again became festive and was filled with fun and laughter where in every heart only one thing reiterated – “Asche Bochhor Abar Hobe!” as we eagerly wait for the homecoming of Goddess Durga next year.
