ACT Mumbai conducts seminar on creating mindful classroom environment

Asian College of Teachers conducted a seminar in Mumbai on 19th October, 2019 on ‘Creating a Mindful Classroom Environment’ for the trainees of the ongoing ITD and ECCE batches. The seminar was conducted by Ms. Suparna Ghosh, who is a well-known clinical psychologist as well as a member of the ACT Academic Board. The 15 participants who attended the seminar, gained an in-depth knowledge regarding the various techniques used in creating a mindful classroom setting conducive to learning.
The trainees wholeheartedly participated in the interactive seminar which was filled with activities. It focused on certain mental health issues that learners as well as educators face and the ways to identify those symptoms. The emphasis was to make the learners as well as the teachers aware of the people and the surrounding. The trainees were asked to pen down their ideas on a chart paper and draw on the topic ‘What according to you is a mindful classroom and how can you create a mindful classroom?’ and they enjoyed showing off their creativity with eager and enthusiasm.
ACT always dedicates itself towards instilling the skills and strategies among teaching professionals which they can implement to create a positive classroom environment nurturing and nourishing young minds. In order to create a mindful classroom environment, it is vital to care for the wellbeing of the teachers which will help them to deliver better support to the children in class. The seminar unfolded ways to engage the students and teach them effectively so their learning becomes optimal and concrete.
