Chennai leg of Asia Symposium wins accolades from ACT alumni

ACT Chennai hosted the Asia Symposium on Holistic Learning, Effective Lesson Planning and Authentic Assessment on 15th February, 2020, at Quality Inn Sabari, T. Nagar, Chennai. The event was attended by our past and present candidates, which provided the opportunity to listen to the experts in the field and gain knowledge in holistic learning. lesson planning and assessment.
The day started with an informative presentation on ‘Creativity in Holistic Teaching-Learning process’ by Dr N. Panchanatham, Vice-Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University who emphasised the benefits of thinking-out-of-the-box and a student-centric method of teaching which brought a wave of enthusiasm among the participants. The event also saw presentations from Mr. T.K. Arunachalam, Regional Director, Cambridge Assessment English, who spoke about Cambridge Teaching knowledge Test (TKT). This was followed by an insightful session on ‘Holistic Learning’ by Ms. Uma K. Raman, Consultant with Cambridge Assessment India & Master Trainer and Examiner Trainer for Cambridge ESOL Examinations.
The post-lunch session saw Dr Margaret Davitt Maughan, Associate Academic Director, USA, Asian College of Teachers, present her views on ‘Effective Lesson Planning and Authentic Assessment’ in a thorough manner while referring to examples from her fair share of experiences. The keynote speaker for the day threw light on the various aspects of Educational Standards across the globe. The event ended on a happy note with the much-awaited convocation ceremony where all our participating alumni were felicitated by Dr Margaret Davitt Maughan.
