ACT was not bogged down by the pandemic and celebrated Independence Day with gusto
18th August 2020
COVID-19 has gripped the world but the pandemic could not dampen the spirit of the members of ACT family. Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm on 14th August, 2020 at the ACT Kolkata centre. The centre was adorned with Indian Flags and on the occasion of 74th Independence Day all ACT members came together to celebrate India’s independence. The celebration commenced with the retelling of history and quiz on Indian freedom struggle reminding us of the sacrifices of many freedom fighters, who laid down their lives for India’s freedom. This was followed by a mixed bag of performances. The participants beautifully captured the spirit of independence through patriotic songs and dance performances followed by fun-filled dumb charades reminding us of the patriotic films made for Indian celluloid. The celebration rounded off with a reflection on the true freedom of India and dissecting the word “independence”. This was followed by the singing of the national anthem by ACT members with the promise to fight back the tough time and move ahead with renewed hope. The celebration ended with lip-smacking refreshments.
