ACT conducts a successful webinar for faculties of D Y Patil School of Hospitality and Tourism Studies

Asian College of Teachers (ACT) successfully conducted a 3-hour Continuous Professional Development webinar on 9th April, 2021 conducted by Dr Mala Sengupta, Associate Director - ACT for the faculties of D Y Patil School of Hospitality and Tourism Studies, Navi Mumbai. “Teachers must develop counselling skills" was a pertinent topic for the faculty members who are engaged in teaching students in the age group of 18 – 21 years. Dr Mala discussed the counselling approaches for the adult learners pursuing professional studies. The web session was quite an interactive one with the facilitator sharing her knowledge and experience with the faculties attending the session so that they are armed with professional counselling skills needed in their classrooms which comprises adult learners. Of late, more and more institutions are realizing the need and importance of counselling skills for the 21st century educators. Today teachers are not just mere instructors but professionals who must know to create the correct environment to make the students feel safe and comfortable so that they can go beyond the books and form a healthy relationship with their educators. The facilitator Dr Mala Sengupta has been an educator and examiner for 25 years with a commitment to high quality teaching and pedagogical practices, explored and explained the counselling strategies and skills needed to engage students for better learning outcomes. The faculty members who participated, agreed that these strategies will help in their teaching process.
