25th January 2022
Asian College of Teachers (ACT) has successfully conducted a customized training session on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) for the Training and the Academic Support Team on 19th January, 2022. The session was facilitated by expert teacher trainer Ms. Manju Chakrawati (M.Com., B.Ed., with more than 13 years of teaching experiences in international schools in Mumbai, Ex-acting Principal & Lecturer at Vidya Vikas Universal College, Mumbai; currently, a teacher trainer and heading a Middle School in Bangalore).
STEM is an integral part of curriculum today and today’s teachers must have clear STEM concepts and the required skills to introduce fun STEM elements in young learners’ classrooms. The training introduced the attendees to the concept that STEM is an integral part of everyone’s daily life. What was perceived as complicated, turned out to be simple and easy. The informative and interactive online session conducted by Ms. Chakrawati explored the various aspects of STEM and its significance in education and the ways to plan STEM activities. It also threw light on whether all STEM activities are required to have all or just partial components of STEM. Apart from this, the insightful session also emphasized the lesson planning for primary level STEM, the things to be kept in mind while planning a STEM lesson plan, and whether or not EVS topics be treated as STEM at the primary level. The training session wrapped up with the attendees’ queries which were met with informative answers from the trainer, thus sealing the session with a great assimilation of knowledge which immensely helped ACT Training and Academic Support Teams.
