ACT Conducted Stress Management and Mental Wellness Workshop at ACT Kolkata Center

Asian College of Teachers (ACT) organized a workshop on ‘Stress Management at the Workplace and Mental Wellness’ at its Kolkata office on March 4, 2025. The workshop conducted by Ms. Nabamita Bhattacharjee, a seasoned expert in public health and stress management, aimed to equip employees with practical strategies to manage stress effectively in both personal and professional settings. Employees participated with great enthusiasm, gaining valuable insights into maintaining mental well-being.

Ms. Bhattacharjee, who has extensive experience working in organizations such as The Mission Hospital, Durgapur, Neotia Academy of Nursing, and B.M. Birla College of Nursing, shared her expertise on workplace stress. Currently serving as District Programme Manager in the National Ayush Mission, she brought deep knowledge of mental health challenges and effective coping mechanisms. The session began with her personal story, creating an engaging and relatable atmosphere.

The training covered essential aspects of stress, including its causes, types, and physiological effects. Participants learned that stress arises when an individual struggles to cope with a situation, triggering the body's natural response. The discussion delved into common stressors such as career concerns, conflicts, poor working conditions, lack of social support, and organizational changes. Ms. Bhattacharjee also highlighted the long-term effects of stress, including migraines, heart issues, panic attacks, diabetes, and infertility.

To combat stress, the session introduced effective management strategies, emphasizing the importance of meditation, regular exercise, a balanced diet, and adequate sleep. Employees were encouraged to adopt these practices to enhance their mental well-being and overall productivity.
